Doncaster Rail Study Underway

The Coalition Government has announced that work will start immediately on the $6.5 million Doncaster Rail Study. The study will provide an extensive and independent assessment of all of the requirements involved in constructing a rail line to Doncaster.

“I am delighted that the Doncaster Rail Study is now underway. Good public transport is vital in supporting the needs of our community.”  Ms Wooldridge said.

The study will examine a number of options for the best route to deliver a rail line in Doncaster. The study team will liaise closely with local Councils to identify the key challenges for the local communities involved in this project. Communities will have a number of opportunities during this process to provide their input and ideas.

I invite residents to register their interest in the process by making submissions and being kept informed of local consultation opportunities by phoning my office on 9841 5166 or emailing me at mary.wooldridge@parliament.vic.gov.au

Coalition Cuts Ambulance Membership Fees in Half

Ambulance Victoria membership fees for Doncaster families have been cut in half from July 1 under the Coalition Government's pledge to make ambulance membership more affordable for all Victorians.

From July 1, ambulance membership costs dropped from $150 to $75 a year for families and $75 to $37.50 a year for singles – that is just 20 cents a day for families and 10 cents a day for singles.

This is similar to prices for ambulance membership fees in 1993 when membership cost $70 for families and $35 for singles.

The Government is also delivering on its $151 million commitment to employ 340 additional ambulance staff over the next five years, increasing paramedic numbers beyond 3000 for the first time in Victorian history.
