Eastern
Freeway named as best route for Doncaster Rail LineThe Coalition Government has released the Doncaster Rail Study’s Phase
One Draft Report which has found that a rail line along the
Eastern Freeway, connecting the Doncaster Park-and-Ride with the Hurstbridge
line at Collingwood, is the most viable option for a Doncaster rail line. The ‘rapid transit’ alignment or Option 1 could potentially carry up to 56,000 passengers
per day by 2031,
with the journey time from Doncaster to the CBD of around 25 minutes. “The
release of the draft report is a significant milestone in planning for the
Doncaster train line. “ Ms Wooldridge said. The draft report has identified a number of rail network
capacity challenges that would need to be addressed before a rail line to
Doncaster could be built. The Doncaster Rail Study Phase One Draft Report is available for public comment and Member for Doncaster Mary Wooldridge
encouraged the community to provide their feedback by Friday 28 June 2013. More

Australia’s first Telephone Town Hall in Doncaster On Thursday 28 October 2010, I hosted Australia’s first Telephone Town Hall in Doncaster. Telephone Town Halls enable thousands of people to simultaneously interact with the call host from the comfort of their living room couch or kitchen table. More than 3,200 Doncaster residents participated, with the discussion focussed on public transport, health, planning and services for the older residents.
